Museum of Aviation golf tournament to honor Scott

This year's Museum of Aviation spring golf tournament will celebrate the life and accomplishments of its chief benefactor, the late Brig. Gen. Robert L. Scott Jr.

The seventh annual event at Barrington Hall Golf Club in Macon has always featured the World War II flying ace. But with Scott's death Feb. 27, the tournament will be called the Brig. Gen. Robert L. Scott Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament with many of the prizes being Scott lithographs and models of the P-40 the general used to shoot down 22 Japanese aircraft.

"We thought with the general's passing that we should change the name to the Gen. Scott memorial tournament," said Bob Dubiel, director of marketing for the museum. "Of course the Scott mementos will make this different. Golfers like that. That will make it kinda neat."
